Phoenix
Playing another Medal round we had the second downpour of the week but it didn’t put off William Macey. The cut was handicap 16 today and William won the A Flight with a handsome four under par round, Geoff Parker pushed him all the way but slipped up on the last hole to get beaten by just one stroke, Paul Smith snuck into the places again to take third place with a level par round playing off a handicap of 5. John Thornber had a happy return to Thailand by winning the B Flight with a level par score and “PJ” beat Don McPherson on a count back to claim second place. This weeks results has made the golfer of the month competition very interesting as only a few points separate Geoff, William, “PJ” and Gerry all of whom are eager to ring the bell at the end of the month I’m sure!

Monday 9th March 2009
Mountain Shadow
In a single flight today it was very tough, as usual, to get any kind of score going but when the heavens opened it made it that much harder. However Bernie Stevens thrived on the conditions and came in with a very respectable 34 points to win and “PJ” didn’t seem to be bothered too much as he was only one point behind, Paul Smith took third place a couple of points further back. It didn’t turn out to be a bad day for Paul as he won three of the near pin prizes too!
Results:
1st Bernie Stevens (hcp 18) 34 points
2nd PJ Redmond (hcp 17) 33 points
3rd Paul Smith (hcp 5) 31 points
Near pin winners – Alan Sullivan, Paul Smith (x 3)
