Golfer of the month Rab (centre) with Mashi (left) and Geoff
Green Valley
The golfer of the month title would be decided today and there were four players in with a chance of winning the trophy. Playing a Rainbow format Mashi, Geoff Parker, last month’s winner Rab McDonald and Lee Butler made up the last fourball and any one of them could win it in one of the closest finishes to the monthly competition we’ve ever had! Mashi and Lee weren’t firing on all cylinders but Geoff and Rab were having a great battle. On the 15th and 16th holes Geoff made a par on each but Rab hit two birdies to finally knock the stuffing out of Geoff who fell away at the last two holes leaving Rab to become the golfer of the month for the third month running, and that’s the only time it’s ever been done!
The points Rab got on the last two holes made sure he won today’s competition too beating John Hughes on a count back both scoring 39 points. Third place went to Paul Smith and Sunny Ruthsip took the fourth spot.
Results:
| 1st | Rab McDonald | 10 (hcp) | 39 points |
| 2nd | John Hughes | 18 (hcp) | 39 points |
| 3rd | Paul Smith | 4 (hcp) | 38 points |
| 4th | Sunny Ruthsip | 28 (hcp) | 34 points |
Near pin winners - Mashi won two and John Hughes and Tony Robbins won the other two.
