Rayong Country Club

 

What an unusual day we had on Friday at Rayong Country Club where there were three torrential downpours during the round resulting in some of the lesser mortals crying off before  the end.

 Those soldiering on struggled with flooded fairways and greens sometimes under water, but the star of the show, who mastered the conditions was William Macey who shot a brilliant four under to win the A Flight. Tony Scambler did pretty good too taking runner up place one shot ahead of JJ Harney. We had a first time winner in the B Flight, Neil Griffin taking the honours one shot ahead of Jackie McPherson and Wednesday’s hero Laurence came down to earth with a pretty dismal nett 82 to finish third!

2^nd Tony Scambler                  (hcp 10) nett 73

3^rd JJ Harney                             (hcp 10) nett 74

B Flight:

1^st Neil Griffin                              (hcp 28) nett 78

2^nd Jackie McPherson              (hcp 19) nett 79

3^rd Laurence Harding               (hcp 18) nett 82

Near pin winners – William finished off a very profitable day by winning two near pins, the others going to JJ and Alan Harris.

Crystal Bay

 

There were some fairly mediocre scores at Crystal Bay, unusually, because this course doesn’t play as tough as it’s neighbour Mountain Shadow, the exceptions being both A and B Flight winners. Tony Robbins scored 39 Stableford points to win the A Flight with a count back needed to separate Alan Harris and John Graham, Alan just edging out John. The best score today was shot by Laurence Harding who scored a magnificent 43 points to win the B Flight a full 10 points ahead of Tom Jones who came runner up beating PJ on a count back.

2^nd Alan Harris                         (hcp 9) 34 points

3^rd John Graham                      (hcp 12) 34 points

B Flight:

1^st Laurence Harding              (hcp 21) 43 points

2^nd Tom Jones                           (hcp 23) 33 points

3^rd PJ Redmond                        (hcp 19) 33 points

Near Pin Winners – Reg Smart, Bob Taylor, Jack Robertson and Tony Robbins.

Bang Pra

 

Last week’s star man was shining again this week! Jack Robertson began where he left off by winning the B Flight again, this time, playing Medal format he romped home with a six under par score to beat Lawrence Harding who fancied his chances with a three under par round, but not today with Jack in this form! Third place went to ‘Skinny’ who, playing his last game before returning to the UK, beat Mike Corner on a count back. It was closer in the A Flight with just one shot separating the top three. Paul Smith won by a single shot and Art Benavidez took the runner up spot beating Alan Sullivan on a count back.
